convert vcd pal to DVD?

I have several vcd's that are pal and want to know the best way to convert them to dvd and be able to play them in any dvd player.

Just a note: Not all recordable dvds will play in EVERY dvd player. Because recordables aren't pressed you won't get a 100% compatible disc. Some older models may have trouble reading -r, +r -+rw. But MOST should at least play -r.
