Dunno...but I'm seeing a potential problem in development.
Once one or two get away with doing this sort of thing...more guys are gonna jump on the bandwagon, and before you know it, we'll be seeing something worse than the "I'm king of the hill / my post count is bigger than yours" frenzy.
Keep in mind what that almost lead to -

If the mods are that concerned they can shut this problem down before it becomes a real problem. That's the benefit of IP logging. -
