  1. Hey guys... still having problems combining a divX video stream with an audio stream extracted from an 'ogm' file.
I have been able to extract the audio using virtualdubmod in "direct stream copy" mode, but this gives a very large wav file (i guess because it is uncompressed). Likewise, I extracted the video in "direct stream copy" mode, no problems there. But when I combine the two using virtualdub, the resulting movie is overly large. So, I thought the audio needs compressing, I then extracted the audio again in "full processing mode" using the lame MP3 compressor which produced a much smaller audio file.
Great ! , I think, but when I again combined the two using virtualdub the audio was hopelessly out of sync...... what am I doing wrong !
    Please help.

The way I have done this (don't know if it is the best) is to go into stream list and click on "save wav". Then convert to mp3 (cbr is safest) using another program and then pick that mp3 in the stream list and save.

  3. Thanks for that mate, when you say "CBR" I guess you mean constant bit rate ( I'm a bit new to all this), I must admit I used VBR when I compressed the audio with the MP3 codec in VirtualDubMod.
Is that the problem?, maybe I should try CBR if that is an option that is availiable.
    Thanx again.

  4. Thanx again mate, I tried your suggestion of "CBR" and it did the trick.
I used the LameMP3 encoder within VirtualDubMod, saved as a wav, then put the video and audio back together with VirtualDub..... perfect sync.

    Ta.

There is more chance for error with VBR (and I suspect that the quality difference will not be that great). But I have never been able to get Vdub to work right when converting to mp3. I always convert with something else and remux.
