how do I duplicate a DVD-RW?

I have some DVD-RW disks from which I copied the VIDEO_TS folders to my PCs hard drive. These DVD-RW disks were formatted on the JVC in DVD-Video mode.

How do I use the data that is now on my PC and "create" a duplicate on different DVD-RW disks for backup?

Simply insert a blank dvd.

In nero choose dvd video. Drag the files from the video_ts folder you created from your originals to the template in nero and click burn.

Open your dvd burner, put in the disc.

Select disc copy and burn.

unfortunately I don't have Nero

I only have Cyberlink's PowerProducer.
When I select Burn Disc from DVD Folder, it tells me it is an invalid DVD folder.



the folders were copied directly from DVD-RWs from the JVC DR-M10.

If I'm reading you correctly, you already have a DVD formatted RW with a movie on it and you want to make at least one copy.

And, if all you want is copies of this movie, then I'd suggest using DVDdecrypter to create an ISO of the DVDrw via iso read mode and then again use DVDdecrypter to write to a new DVDr with iso write.

D/l DVDDecryter, plop your original disc in your PC and do ISO read. Wait about 15-30 minutes depending on the speed of your drive. Pop a blank dvd in and switch to ISO write.

DVDDecrypter will burn your disc and it's a freebie.

Do I leave DVD Decrypter in it's defaul settings? I am intimidated by all the settings that are changeable.

Any burning software will do disc copy.

That was my point.

If it was burned b4 then it is not encrypted.

Just do disc copy in your burning software.

You could also use DVDShrink. You can just pick the video_ts folder and then tell it to burn the DVD.

This requires Nero.

If you already have the Video_TS on your hard drive, then use the software that came with your PC DVD recorder (sonic, in my case). Create a "Data" disk project. Drag the VIDEO_TS folder onto the create DVD workspace. Burn as a data ISO (non joliet) disk. Works like a charm.

Now, this solution is not necessarily the MOST compatible, as it is written as DVD-ROM rather than DVD-Video, but I have yet to try a player that couldn't read a disk formatted that way. In fact, that's how I do 90% of my burns from DVD-RW to DVD+RW (as I have 100+ plus-rws).

Open files in Shrink.
Select Backup to ISO Image & Burn with Decrypter.

For straight dupes, I actually prefer PRASSI.

I knew you could decrypt with the DVD decrypter and then burn with DVD Shrink but I didn't know you could decrypt something and then burn it with DVD Decrypter. Every time I decrypt something it ends up being about 8 gigs so won't fit on a DVD-R. I've always assumed that because it was so large I would have to use DVD Shrink to fit it back to a DVD-R. Am I incorrect in this assumption?

The annoying thing about doing that is that sometimes DVD Shrink can't fit everything back onto the DVD-R even though it was all originally on a normal DVD. I guess if I want an actual duplicate I'll have to use a dup program like what LordSmurf suggested but being able to use something else that is freeware would be real nice.

Do yourself a favor and get Nero. It's quite simple to use and is not too expensive. It's a must for my burner workstation.
