You forgot to mention that the winning goal for canada should not have counted due to the puck hitting the mesh and bouncing back into play. What the hell, I'm Canadian if we can't beat them in the softwood lumber SCAM we'll can beat the americans in the rink!!!!

    Hello,

Baldrick - The Red Wings on the Swedish team seem to be doing well. Didn't Holmstrom get the winning goal a couple games ago??

  23. How about Finland ? We haven't lost a game yet and we got the best goalie in the NHL. Miikka Kiprusoff. Lowest GAA in the history of NHL.

I hope Finland will take the cup, though I'm not too confident yet. Have to see how the game against US goes. If we win that, we might have a chance.

The USA is starting to come on. Finland is strong though. That should be a good game.

I'm in Boston, been watching most of the world cup. Wish I had the CBC so I could watch more hockey now and when ever the next NHL season will be....All Hockey All the Time is fine with me....

Also, how can team Slovakia with Gaborik/Satan/Chara/Hossa/Palffy/Demitra/Bondra/Handzus/Nagy/ not win a game. I mean really, but me in net (no ice experience) and they should still win atleast 1 game

Well, I'll respectfully debate that. The game has changed since folks like Terry Sawchuck have played. Getting 4 goals in a game now these days is a big score. Kind of like Bonds' home runs... But don't get me started on that...

  27. US - FIN should be a good match, it sucks though that it starts at 2.00 am here in Finland.

Yes it's true that the game has changed a lot and you can't really compare todays game to the game even 10 years ago. There's no way that today some rookie could beat Teemu Selänne's rookie years goal and points records for example.

So could we agree that Kiprusoff was the best goalie last year in NHL
He didn't win any trophies though, but Kipper is finnish and I'm finnish so I might be a bit partial too

He may have has the lowest GAA last year - but he's not the best yet.

Martin Brodeur. There's the current #1 active goalie today.

It pains me to say that - I'm a Flyers and Avalanche fan - so you know it REALLY pains me to say that!!

He's proven time and time again that he's #1 (Since Roy retired). How many Stanley rings does he have? How many MVP's and Goalie awards?? I lost count long ago on those - but pound for pound - he's the best there is right now.

Miikka is headed in the right direction - but he needs some time to prove to the league that he's going to be a legend as well..

BTW, I had the pleasure of watching a young Mikkaa play for the Kentucky Thoroughblades of the AHL a few years back - he never could beat the Hershey Bears in the playoffs! (tells you who my AHL team is, now doesn't it? )
