  1. Which of those 4 players are worth the value and quality?

They all seem to play MP3s, VCD, CDR...But I don't know about the other types for the JVC and Toshiba...

Btw, Is there any sign of Pioneer DV-444 on sale in Canada?

  2. oops...Also, I don't mind get my hands on a Pioneer DV-434 because it has Progressive scanning, which I know DV-343 doesn't have but the 343 is available in Canada...

  3. I've tried out the Pioneer, a Panasonic, and currently have the Toshiba. I never got SVCDs to play well on the Pioneer (though I hear they will if they're done just right), and they don't play at all on the Panasonic or Toshiba.

VCDs and XVCDs look absolutely awesome on the Toshiba; better than any player I've seen. There's a real problem with fast-forward on XVCDs; when you return to "play", it continues to fast-forward (at about twice play speed). Try it enough, and it will eventually go back to play. It doesn't do this with standard VCDs (or DVDs, of course). I kept it anyway, for the zoom and the great video.

  4. I have the Toshiba SD3750 and have been very impressed with its DVD and VCD quality. It won't play my MP3 disks however. Since you say you have gotten it to play your MP3 disks, did you do anything special? I am using Nero to burn the disks and have used the same media successfully to burn VCDs, CDs, etc. It sees the mp3 files, just doesn't play them.
