I'd like to capture to MJPEG using an ATi AIW 128 (based on an ATi Bt829 video coder chip)

However I want to be able to use virtual dub without installing ATi's MMC (because it seems to take over the whole machine & also I've not found a version that works properly)

Problem is that I cannot increase the resolution above 352 by 288, the message "resolution not supported" gets returned.

Anyone know of a method of increasing capture resolution without MMC installed? A registry hack for example.

  2. I am pretty sure that 352x288 is the max resolution for AIW 128.

I've captured at resolution well beyond that using HuffYuv, maybe its a software limitation. What MJPEG codec are you using?

Gosh this was a blast from the past!

I found that all the updates from Ati wouldn't capture greater than NTSC 320 by 288 (which is pretty usless anyway as I'm PAL).

In the end I found the solution that worked was to install '98 & load the software from original CD.
This enabled all the higher capture settings. Its pretty poor of ATi to effectively drop theAiW128, but its not uncommon.

It was all a bit of an experiment anyway as I've moved onto the Hauppage PVR-USB2 for analogue caotures & the DEC2000 for TV capturing & dabble with the ATi when the mood takes me.

    Thanks anyway guys.
