  1. I have transferred my home movies thru the DV In/Out jacks on the 510 and my Sony Digital Video Camera, but I guess the data code (date & time) can't be recorded. I have edited the movies on the 510's harddrive, but would like to have the odd date and time inserted into the movie b4 I copy it onto a DVD. What would be the best way to achieve that? I am a total newbie at this and have never done any DVD work on the PC b4, but would be willing to try if this can be done.

I may be mistaken about this but I recall reading that you can get the date & time on the video if you record it to the DVR via the analog connectors rather than the DV connector.

  3. That's probably true but I assumed that the quality of the transfer would be better if I used the DV connector. Is that not the case?

The quality with an all digital transfer via the DV connection is probably better than running it through the digital to analog converters. But that's for you to tell after comparing the two. The difference may not be very visible.
