  1. Hey there , I've gotta a big problem

    I just bought Pioneer dvr-a07 drive and it works wonderfully, and in a week's time I burned about 20 movies ( dvd9 - dvd5 ).

The problem is that my Liteon 2001 has problems reading those discs!I put the dvd-r in, the player recognizes it and it starts to play, but when about an hour passes everything blocks up!

At first everything was fine but when the first dvd-r blocked I tested all my discs and about half of them block on their last chapters! For example - I put my disc in the drive, click search on my remote control and go to the last half hour of the movie and it blocks! The player just stops playing. Also when I try to skip the chapters ( from the first one to the last one ) it begins to block when I reach the final chapters.

At first I thought that crappy dvd media was the cause( I bought a spindle of 25 no-name dvd-r's ) , but later I tried thoses same dvd-r's on my Amstrad dvd player ( which btw cost a third of LVD's price ) and it play
ed fine....so I don't get it, why would dvd-r's play on my crappy dvd player and constantly block on my LVD with the newest firmware???Maybe I should use only brand name dvd-r's with my LVD???But that doesn't make sense to me because LVD is superior in all ways to the Amstrad dvd player........!!!

Please help if you have any idea!

    Thanks in advance, Domagoj

The only thing I can suggest is this:

Since these units tend to run warm/hot, try removing the cover and use it in a cool environment and see if it still locks up. That at least will tell you if it is a problem in the electronics of the unit.

FWIW: My LVD-2002 locks up if I run it over a couple of hours, especially if it's on a very hot day. If I turn it off for a few minutes and restart, it's fine again for a while.

If this is your problem, RMA the unit to LiteOn if it's still under warranty. Otherwise, if it's a heat issue, you could drill holes for ventilation on the back panel, but then you run the risk of dust infiltration. In that case, you'd have to clean the laser lens from time to time (very easy, though). Might be worth it if it solves the problem, but it's up to you.
