Boy, if you only print occasional jobs on the R200, it still manages to gobble up ink at an incredible rate. I gather that it's deliberately misreporting the amount of ink left in each cartridge. There's talk of chip resetters for this printer, but do any exist for Mac users? How does such a thing work?

Hi,
I would not say it is deliberately misreporting the amount.
The chip counts down from full, ending at "empty" but allowing
enough ink to be left as a safety margin. If the ink runs out
during a print, the printer pauses and you can replace the cart
and continue as normal.
An Epson ink re setter simply applies a small charge to a chip at
the rear of the cart, resetting the incremental count to full. They
are not Mac or PC specific.
A significant amount of ink is used in the charging (when cart is
first placed in the printer) and cleaning cycles to prevent the
thinner than human hair print heads from being blocked.
This
is not to say that Epson is being fair to it's users. They have
a commercial interest in attempting to force you to use their
overpriced inks. The margin on selling printers is negligible;
the profits all but come from media and ink consumables.
