  1. I use SmartRipper to rip a DVD. Then use DVD2AVI. Now, I want to use tmpgenc to create a DIVX encoded AVI of it. (unless DVD2AVI can do it and I don't know how).

I installed DIVX 4.01 on my system, but how do I create an AVI that is DIVX encoded?

The DIVX avi files I've played have incredible quality for playback... I would like to create something similar.

  2. pretty much youll just have to play with the settings till you get it right... thats what i did .. and i would overwrite the 4.0 divx with a 3 version .. i had 4 on my system and for some reason some divx files i would get were not able to use the audio codec.. after reinstalling 3 things are just handy

i was also having sync problems with the new codec when encoding

for the record i use smartripper and flask to get all my stuff at the quality that can be downloaded

    bitrates vary with file size
