square 1 walkthrough needed....capturing dvd/hdtv signals

high guys....

i am interested in capturing video to my HD....and i looked into it a little...once i get it on my hd im ok from there but i dont know anything about the hardware or programs i might need.....heres an example of where im at...i just heard about usb 2.0 and firewire as i started looking into this......pci & agp are foreign languages to me....

if anyone can give me some advice on what i need and what i should keep away from id appreciate it.....the only thing i do see is that i want an internal card...i have enough shit tangled behind my desk...

Judging from your cpu profile, I have no idea what you need.

im running windows xp with a 1.4Gh pentium 4.....256 ram not sure what other info you might need....lemme know
