    Hey,

Ok here's the thing...I have dvcam tapes (pal) that has recorded material by a proffesional sony dv cam. Now I wanna transfer through firewire..BUT I do not have a dvcam player! what I do have is a minidv cam which of course is close in format and plays the tapes I have although the frame rate differs. Capturing dvcam tapes from a minidv makes the footage and the audio super glitchy.

Now I'm not shocked coz I'm basically trying to fit in two formats in one. But the question is:

If I'm using Premiere Pro would I be able to fix the rate or speed of frames after the jerky capture...or is it something that has to do with the original player i.e (minidv)?

I did see some options regarding speed and duration but that didn't help at all it just made the jerky footage run faster or slower with all its terrible glitches...so please any suggestions?

P.S: Original footage is off excellent quality... a short film shot during university years..again "with dvcam NOT mini dv"

    any tricks?
    ty

As you say that "the frame rate differs", I suspect you may be in NTSC land. Most MiniDv camcorders should be able to play back a tape shot on a DVCAM but it seems the problem is that the tapes are PAL and you are trying to play them back on an NTSC cam. You seem aware that PAL is 25 fps and NTSC is 29.97 fps, that would explain the jerky movement.

I suspect you only way forward is to play the tape back on something that can cope with PAL.

Actually Richard_G this factor is definetly not the case. Coz were I live the standard is PAL and canon minidv here (also all brands) come in PAL. Both are pal I'm sure of it.

As for the situation, you said mini dvs do play dv cam tapes with no problems. I hope ur sure of that, and if u r... hope u can give me further tips on how to make the capture look good. Even more...mind u..I have to mention that even playing that tape on the minidv itself was in slow motion and no sound...when captured with premiere pro it gave glitchy audio and video.

P.S: this is why i requested a solution with premiere itself..as in post production fixing...
