Hope you have a lot of money for licensing, or access to a lot of public domain works.

A streaming server isn't cheap either.

TV networks have shunned allowing regular programming across the net as there is the potential ability to copy it. There is some available already, but you have to search hard for it. If you want to do your own station, you will have to look up things regarding licensing if you are just doing the shows of yourself. It could be pretty costly, which is why more people don't do it. Plus if it's popular, it may crash or slow up due to heavy traffic volumes. There's several other things you'll have to look into as well. It's nothing new of an idea, but very few have done anything really heavy to make it happen.

It's probably cheaper to buy your own local frequency from the FCC and set up an antenna and equippment to broadcast publicly as a Public Service station. You can broadcast a distance of 20-50 miles for television if you have a healthy income. That's how a lot of the old UHF stations got their start before FOX bought practically every one and turned them into networks.

Man that is a tough one ,,,lots of money for licensing and dedicated server.
I recal the good old days where there was a little product called the rabbit ( if I am not mistaken) UHF and it would go out to a certain proximity / radius, to see your output with all the permits of course .....now may be just as well buy a block from a pbs or an infomercial slot and use that time to do your thing.
    Good Luck

I can stream a wmv file from my server. My plan costs $10 a month but I have a 45 gig bandwidth limitation.

Licensing, software and all other aside you will need some pretty deep pockets to do something like you suggest for free if a whole lot of people used it. The badwidth required for something like that would be enormous if it took off.

My site is just images and text (all compressed as best as I can do), and I swallow that easily. Start adding downloads and/or media, and other stuff, and you really start to incur costs.

There's a technology that's not to far away from being implemented that's supposed to allow a signifigant increase in bandwidth allowance and speed over existing lines. The only thing is, you'd need a new ethernet card to handle the larger load, otherwise you're still only moving at 1 or 10MBps. I saw something on this months ago and cannot remember what the technology is called. (it didn't seem important at the time) But it could drastically reduce the cost of bandwidth used and several other things. Sorry to be so vague, but if anyone knows or has seen what I'm talking about please expand on it and provide a link.

I'm no where near that, of course there's many more people interested in video than coal.

BTW LS you ever read that PM i sent about why your images are being blocked?

I figure i like enough stuff guys like so stream for a while. Another reason i got the idea is because i have to pro version of win amp and you can look at things people stream for everybody to see and loved it

  11. ahahahaha well since people is doing it already i dont think its nothing new..... i just have shows i think i rather see and everybody else especially younger people ( or ages 13-35 males) want to see. And i wasnt gonna licsense right now was gonna take my dvds and broadcast them. I mean i bought em so i will do what i want to do with them

  12. Just because you own the DVD doesn't mean you own the rights to rebroadcast the material.

Streaming 48 hours of decent quality video is going to cost you a fortune in bandwidth anyway.
