  1. As expected upgrade Windows only gave me troube.

After I upgraded to SP2 yesterday, avisynth 2.5.4 ceases to work properly and gave me error AVIFILEINFO 0x80004005 in different occasion.

The funny thing is the .avs can play in M$ WMP 9, virtualdub-MPEG2 but gives me the aforementioned 0x80004005 error in VirtualdubMod and most importantly CCE SP.

To ensure that it wasn't the input avi that caused the problem, I tried to use avi files that I successfully used before and it failed.
Upgrade avisynth to latest 2.5.5 version only make the avifileinfo error happens in all cases.

I had turned off the DEP in SP2 but didn't help.

Does anyone encounter this error and how to solve it. Downgrade to SP1 is my last opinion and I think it is risky as M$ will probably fail again and I simply have to re-install from scratch again.

Try removing all your plugins and then adding them back one at a time. Maybe do the same thing with all your codecs? DirectX too. I never had that problem, sorry. I'm just guessing really.
