All I keep hearing is that taiyo yuden is the best. I never bought any because of the price though (use ricoh jpn01 for beter burns). So I run across a good deal on some and get a pack(I wasn't farmiliar with the diffrent TY media codes). These are the YUDEN000T02 8x (fuji). So the first burn at 8x is total crap (the worst princo burn I ever got was five times beter than this). It was that bad at the first part of the scan (and continued for a while) and even after it droped down, it still wasn't that great. I thought maybe one bad disk so I burnt another. As soon as I saw it start scanning with pi around 1500 and po in the hundreds I just quit the scan.
So after some research, it seems that it is the TYG01 4x that everybody loves and the YUDEN000T02 don't have a lot of people reporting having used them (that I found yet).
So Im guessing, too old of firmware (gsoa if I recall right) on a liteon 851s, a bad pack of disks, or the YUDEN000T02 are not as good as the TYG01. Any opinions?
I have stuck with this firmware because I get trully exelent scans with ricoh jpn01 burned at 6x and I get pretty good scans with princos (good considering they are princos) and I have a bunch I want to use up (wouldn't buy them again of course). I went looking for firmware upgrades and it seems that the 851s@832S modded firmware seems to be the popular choice but there are four avalable and there doesn't seem to be a best one (opinions seem to vary). I guess that I just need to try one.
Anyones have any coments on the YUDEN000T02 or on good firmwares for the 851s?
Opps!!! Made a big mistake. I was burning a disk on my other compter so I could not read the media code and put TYG02 on accident. These are not TYG02 -r disks, these are YUDEN000T02 +r disks (I changed it in the post).. Sorry for any confusion.

Fyi fry's has YUDEN000T02 (fuji) 50 packs for 40$ plus 10$ rebate so 30$. You can do up to three rebates but I don't want to get the two other packs if I am not going to get top quality burns, I would rather just get ricoh jpn01's. Seems like a pretty good price if these disks are good though. The rebate is in store only if I am not mistaken.
