I can get these 2 DVD players for the exact same price ($98CDN) and im wondering which would be better (leaning towards the Toshiba).
Toshiba SD-3860 Progressive Scan DVD Player
or
JVC N310B Progressive Scan DVD Player
I dont know much about JVC DVD players but i really love JVC TV's and i really love ALL Toshiba products. I also need a good DVD+R player since my DVD burner is a +R/RW burner only. According to videohelp.com/dvdplayers, they both play DVD+R's and both DVD players are pretty much the same feature wise.
Gonna be going tomorrow to exchange my panasonic s35k ($99CDN) with one of the 2 cuz ive been reading a lot of bad things from Panasonic DVD players lately thats making me think that i bought the wrong DVD Player.
Apparently panasonic has started to put in cheap motors in ALL of their DVD players causing them to stop working after about a years use (right after the 1year warranty expires) causing this "HO2 error" on the display. Reading that puts a very bad image on panasonic dvd players and panasonic alltogether in my eyes.

cant tell you anything about the JVC line or the specific toshiba model. My mother in law has a 5 disc toshiba dvd player. the thing is damn finicky about what it will play and what it wont.
I am in the -R camp and her player will play my dvd-r stuff, but dvd-r's that play Ok on a record player have hiccupped and whatnot on her player. Course another possibility is that I burned it wrong and it was dumb luck that it plays on other players except hers (I selected the F&^% UP on Toshiba option in Nero, LOL). Kinda like that joke of how is sex like drugs. Depends on the pusher....
Anyway, off on a tangent. Have you considered the apex line at all. Others might complain, but I own 2 apex's and I have had countless others purchase at my request and they have all been VERY happy with them (that and there are in the $30-$40 range). -
If it's a new Panasonic player they are using a different "improved" motor in them. Wheather it's better or not I don't know, but they claim it is. Toshibas have power supply problems, I wouldn't buy one of them, probably better off with the Panasonic than Toshiba.
