WinXP Pro SP2 conflict with Nero

Anyone has had any trouble burning DVD's with Nero after SP2 update? Up to SP1 I burned tens of DVD's without a single error, but after updating to SP2 (and I updated to Nero 6.3.1.17 that claims to solve conflicts with SP2) my first DVD-R halted burning after only 1% of the process.

Still on Nero 5.5 for compatability and I don't think I'll be updating to SP2 anytime soon so I can't help ya. It could be the funny ASPI layer Nero provides. You may want to be sure it wasn't overwritten or currupted by the update.

I uninstalled Nero and reinstalled it....now it seems things are back to normal!

I uninstalled Nero 6 and reinstalled 5.5.10.XX for compatibility. I used to get the same freeze-ups at random spots and have to do a power-down to stop it.

I already burned 15 DVD's with Nero 6.3.1.17 (WinXP SP2) without any errors. It seems that uninstalling and reinstalling the product after SP2 update fixed the trouble.

Nero pop out my disc and then stuck at 1% with my tray open and says no disc and then froze.
I took your advise reinstall it but there's no luck for me, any other advise tat u might have done besides uninstalling ???

I sometimes have this problem with Nero, and an Nec2510a drive on WinXP with SP1 (not SP2). If you look, it's really not stuck at 1%, per se - it's stuck writing the lead-in.

At least for me, this is only an occasional thing - when it happens, if I reboot, the problem goes away for a while. I have not had this happen (yet) with RecordNow 7.2

Try using the NERO CLEAN TOOL then reboot pc and reinstall NERO BURN. Here's the download for NERO CLEAN TOOL:

Hey Andrew,
After SP2 udpate,just uninstall Nero completely, then reinstall it and patch it with the latest 6.3.1.20 update, then burning should be flawless.

I have had Nero 6.3.1.20 for awhile before I updated to SP2 and it has worked fine since the update.

BTW, what is everyone's prob with SP2? They actually DID plug some of those holes (and probably opening more!). I know I have read the same reports as everyone else about problems after the update, but I haven't experienced a single one of them. All of my proggies work fine. Only a couple of them had to updated, but wasn't that expected? I went to the main sites of these proggies and all of them talked about update for SP2. Not a big deal to me.

Problem is I didn't have 6.3.1.20 before updating to SP2, so after patching with 6.3.1.20 I never had any trouble as mentioned before.

Interesting this is; I upgraded to SP2 yesterday. I went to open Nero and I got a message that Nero has some issues with SP2... I continued anyway. I burnt 2 dvds and a cd yesterday with no problem. I figured this wouldn't last so I decided to download the latest Nero upgrade. Here's the good part... I can't access the damn download page on Ahead's website since installing SP2. At first I thought it was a problem with Ahead's website, but I tried at work this morning and it works just fine here.

I tried backing off the sp2 upgrade through recovery, but to no avail... still no go. Either recovery is not removing SP2 fully or my problem is SP2... it's something else.
