  1. I just used DVD Shrink on Hildalgo. In the movie, when a foreign language is spoken. subtitles appear. I don't get that feature after using DVD Shrink unless I turn on subtitles. But then I get subtitles for everything. Anyone know how to just get the subtitles when needed (foreign language)?

    Thanks

Try just checking under "Subpicture" the languages that have "-Forced"
CheckBox next to them...That should work for you.

That doesn't work,at least not in the case of the SW I and II. Substream #2 contains the "translaations" rather than subtitle streams and that option eliminates them also. Try it with substream #2 only and see if that works. Make sure you have unchecked the option to "hide substreams of insignificant size". Given the standardization in DVD's stream #2 may always be the "translations".

  5. Hi, did you do movie only or full disk back up ? I have found that if on some films when done under film only even if you include subtitles you have to physically select the subs which appear when a foreign language is spoken, Kill Bill 1 The Hulk are an example of this but on other films as long as the English subs are included even when they are switched off they will still appear LOTR when they speak Elvish is an example of this. No doubt someone will have a technical answer for this but now I always find the best option is to do a full disk back up and just disable the extras or use something like Vobblanker to remove them altogether and maybe menu edit to remove the extras button on the menu. Other programmes will do the same but I haven't tried them.

  6. Hi all.

    As already stated...
    - make sure "Hide audio/subpicture streams of insignificant size" is not checked ("Edit >> Preferences").
    - simply right-click on the reauthored title and use the "Set Default Stream" sub-menu.

To identify which stream has to be selected, simply play the original disc in WinDVD (or equivalent) and check which one is played automatically.
The stream number will be the same in DVD Shrink.

so it is safe to assume that while in DVD Shrink after selecting the audio/subpics etc that they won't show up in the preview screen, so basically you have to play the dvd and see which one it is like ddlooping suggested.

It is extremely safe to assume.
    It couldn't be safer actually.

  9. After using DVD Shrink.....to "just get the subtitles when needed" on playback........before playing the movie...you now need to go to "Set Up"......."Audio Options".....& choose your preference. In this case...Dolby Digital or DTS.......
    Should do ya.........

So I'm not clear on wha to do. How do you get only the native forced subtitles of Hidalgo burned onto DVD so it playsback right on the DVDplayer?

I don't believe the forced subtitles stand out and are listed to select in DVD Shrink. If so where are they?

    What is subpicture?
