Hello, I am a new member, your site was recommended to me by friends.
my project is to place a foreign film + cartoon + MovieTone News trailer on an 8 gig DVD for presentation at a school.
So far, I have been successful in inserting all the info. I am working off my hard drive before burning to make sure all is well.
I am using DVD Decrypter to transfer all files to the HD and Using DVD Shrink to assemble the components to the new disk.
However, the original movie is in Italian and the sub titles are in english. I cannot get the subtitles to show on the video. I have done my DD and have all the options on DVD shrink set to display the subtitles, however they are not there.
If I proof the video after DVD Decrypter, the english sub titles are there. After I use DVD Shrink, they disappear.
I like DVD Shrink for the convenience of inserting different titles, re-arranging them and also to trim the video.
I have checked all the ticks in the preferences and I should be able to see the titles, but don't.
If i cannot do this in Shrink, is there another program that would be similar without a big leaning curve.
any help will be appreciated.
Louis

I'm assuming you are using Reauthor mode
Check Preferences>>Stream Selections -- Make sure Disable all Subpicture ... is unchecked
After you have loaded the left pane
Prior to Build
Click on each Title -- Click Compression Tab -- See if the Subtitle you want is (there) and checked -

How do you know the subtitle stream isn't there? Have you checked the stream list (in DVD Shrink), and set the subtitle stream you want, to be "on" by default?

Try opening the DVDD output in PgcEdit -- see if it complains. And perhaps Save it
This may sound silly -- Run the Compiliation through dvdshrink (Full Mode) say compress something leave everything else at 100 %
(May have to set to Dvd-9 in preferences) --see if it loses the subs
if it doesn't then run that output through reauthor
Sounds like a problem in the .Vob files though -- especially if you see the subs in DVDShrinks Stream Selector list -
thanks everyone for your suggestions. problem is solved. there are three sound tracks in the film, french, Italian and Spanish. i was deleting the French and Spanish to save space, it seems that the English sub titles were in the Spanish track file.
all is well now, its a fluke.
