Have you updated to SP2 just before this trouble started. There was another thread in the computer section where windows wasn't communicting with a DV cam. Uninstalling SP2 fixed it.

  3. hi thanks a lot for the reply firstly , well i looked in my add/remove list couldnt see service pack 2 and dont recall installing it recently , i found a wr 2.0 which a google sessions seemed to reveal was not an essential thing to have on my pc ( some kind of spyware etc ) and there was another one the other day called bullseye or something which i removed also , it has to be a coincidence ( i hope ) but i could possibily trace the canopus glitch to when that was removed , but if it was some kind of spyware obviously seems an impossible theory , so i am a bit stuck now , i was hoping there were some settings in canopus i could change .

    thanks again

Sorry, you are reffering to software aren't you. I was thinking it was the capture device. If it is the capture device read on if not ignore it.

SP2 refers to Windows Service Pack 2, if you have windows set to to automatically download updates it may have installed in the background. I'm not sure if it will show up in the add/remove list. You can check to see if it's installed by going to control panel>system. Under the general tab at the top it will list what version of XP you have. you can remove it by going to system restore and finding the point where it was installed.

I don't know that this is what the problem is. It's just a suggestion since it's similar to the one with the cam.

As for your spyware if you don't have it get adaware and spybot which will remove them from your system. Both are free, make sure you update them after you install them before scanning.
