Ripper drive: Toshiba 16x DVD-ROM SD-M1712 with no limit speed hack (http://hijacker.rpc1.org/toshiba_nolimit/)
Burner: Lite-on 811s (8x DVD+R)
Using DVD Shrink, what speeds should I seeing during the different processes of backing up a DVD? I know its slower depending on the level of compression and whether or not dual layer...
But it is normal for the process to be going at 2000-3000 kb/second? I've seen it go as high 11 or 12,000 kb/sec on certain things... but usually hovers around 3k / sec.

i got the same dvd-rom with same firmware. why not use dvddecrypter rather than shrink to rip (12-15 min usually for full 8Gb or so) and then do your magic?

speeds ripping with your dvd burner will be slower than speeds ripping with a dvd rom, most burners are set to read slower when ripping when its a dual layer dvd, dvd rom will have a higher speed when it comes to this.
