  1. I've used the free version of SVCD2DVDMPG a few times on NTSC discs successfully. However, I'm currently trying to convert two SVCD PAL films to PAL DVD's.

The strange thing is that the rightmost roughly 25% of the screen is cut off after passing through SVCD2DVDMPG. I've tried a few times and also tried uninstalling and re-installing, but I'm stumped. Anyone else have this happen, or got any ideas ?

    TIA.

I think it's the player that produces this phenomenon. After all, what SVCD2DVDMPG does, is cheat the DVD player (and authoring soft) into thinking it's a valid DVD res mpeg, while in fact it isn't. If your particular player and or authoring package falls for this trick is another story... Strange tho, that it should work for NTSC discs, and not PAL... What's your "native region"?

  3. Native region is NTSC. I've tried TmpgEnc DVD Author and DVD Maestro, both give the same problem. So do both WinDVD and PowerDVD. Maybe I'll try patching the whole file and not just the first header.

What do you patch the SVCD to? 720 or 352? No matter, will your player play a real PAL DVD?

  5. I've tried patching to both 352 and 720, both with just the first header patched and the whole file. Nothing seems to work. In fact when patching the whole file with 720 it blows up Maestro.

Yes, my player can play true PAL disks no problem, and both WinDVD and PowerDVD shouldn't have a problem but do.

You are authoring as PAL DVD I take it. Have you tried some other authorer, like TMPGEnc DVD Author or DVDAuthorGUI?
