  1. How to update firmware for Pioneer DVR-107D ?

Might seem like a dumb question, but no matter what I try, I get the "Available target is not found" message.

I've updated three Sony drives and a Yamaha pretty mercilessly in the past without problems, but this one has me stumped.

I have firmware 1.10 and want to update to 1.18. I've tried in XP, in Safe mode, at the command prompt.... nothin'. I've tried to use Kenny C's 107D-Up batch file without luck... this messages that the wrong key has been pressed. It hasn't.

I've disconnected my second burner and left only the Pioneer installed and enabled.

    Anyone any suggestions?

i think you need a firmware upgrade for OEM drives. Or a file that converts your OEM kernel to the default kernel.

u might have to change the jumper settings to master. i had a similar thing with my 106 but i got a different firmware and it worked. r u getting ur firmware from pioneer. here's a link http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pio/pe/images/portal/cit_3424/121597739DVRx07_FW118.exe

  5. My 107D is IHV, not OEM, so kernel should not be the problem.

The drive is the master -- a Yamaha CD burner is the slave.

I specify the drive each time. Under a DOS cmd prompt, it simply tells me the drive is not ready (unless there's a disc in there).

And my firware is official, from Pioneer.

Thanks for the suggestions. Any more?

  6. Try upgrading to an earlier version, say 1.16 and see if that works. If it does, then try the 1.18 update.
I loaded this 1.16 update on a buddies 107 the other day and it worked very well. Good support for Verbatim 8x media and better rip speeds.

    Best of Luck,

I'm encountering the same problem with my Memorex True 8X (which is the Pioneer 107). It gives me the same exact error: I even went to the Pioneer site and downloaded their firmware update and the same error shows up. I'm using XP Pro and did everything you tried with no luck. I just bought the drive yesterday and sent Memorex support an email. If I can't update this thing, it's going back.

Let me know if you get the problem solved and how you did it. If I hear back from Memorex with successful update info, I'll let you know.

  8. I have heard of problems related to drives sold through computer manufacturers. If that is not the problem you might want to try a frimware from another source.

Try posting your problem at the firmware page. Here's the link to the site:

OK, I've been told my Memorex unit is a Lite-On SOHW-812S not Pioneer which is why I was having such a hard time updating it!

Memorex had Pioneer and Lite-On units? Weird.

Now to find updated firmware for this unit. Here we go again...

  13. You don't ever want to know how lucky you are that Pioneer would not let you update your Liteon. If you start to use OmniPatcher be more careful as I believe it would let you make such a mistake.

I'm returning the Memorex. It's making nothing but coasters and their support sucks. I ordered the Pioneer 108 from NewEgg and should get it within a few days.

I'm tired of hassling with this Memorex/Lite-On unit.

  15. Good choice. Skip the middleman. Newegg is one of the best sellers I have ever dealt with.
