  1. Hi,
I recently authored some divx files to dvd and burned them to dvd-r to watch on my tv using my playstation 2. For some reason the playback is very jerky. The video goes fast then slows then fast but audio is fine. I played the same disc on a emerson dvd player and the disc worked fine. I never had this problem using the same process i used previously authoring my dvds from divx. It worked be4 but now the new stuff i have authored doesnt. I know many of you will say get a new dvd player but i just want to find the root of the problem because it is nagging me. I have tried many different encoders, many different media and many different authoring programs. I doubt it is the burning utility, because the previous discs i made worked perfectly fine using it, just these new ones are messing with my head. Any suggestions?

Getting a real DVD player may be the only answer, as the PS2 may be the root of the problem.

One thing that does come to mind - did you do a format conversion along the way (NTSC - PAL or PAL - NTSC) ? This can sometimes cause this effect if not done properly.

  3. There was no pal to ntsc conversion, the source was 30fps, and that was converted to 29.97fps, the ones i did before this one had the same information as well, and they worked fine.
