Hi, thanks very much for at least looking at my problem.
I have downloaded some video. All I know about it is the file is an mpeg and it plays brilliantly on my PC. I would like to convert it to a DVD which I can play on my stand alone DVD player for the kids.

I tried authoring it using TNPGENC Author and then burning it as a dvd video file using Nero Burning ROM....I got all the indications everything was fine, however when playing on standalone DVD the sound is brilliant but the picture is very pixelated (I think thats the terminology its got lots of off looking squares over it).

Can anyone please tell me if I should be doing anything else to these files, or am i going wrong from the beginning.

I did look up on the conversion lists MPG to DVD but there were no guides listed.

    Any assistance much appreciated.

    Thanks.....Mac

  2. This sounds like it could be media-related. Could you tell us what the DVD-R was that you used was? Try putting it onto a DVD-RW disc and see if that improves things.

If this isn't media related, try this. Download GSpot and use it to look into your file, you can compare it to this:

...and see if it is a legal DVD-spec file.

    https://www.videohelp.com/guides.php?guideid=75&howtoselect=4;10#75

This should allow you to convert your MPEG file into a DVD-compliant video.

    Best of luck to you,
