  1. I stopped at Albertsons today to pick up some beer cause I'm almost out, but my regular beer that costs $20 a case at costco costs like $27 at Albertsons so I decided I'd get something cheaper.

While looking at the selection I saw a case of Hamms beer and that theme song popped into my head and so I bought it. Not the worst I've had, but not all bad. Anyone here drink Hamms beer???

No, but I remember the commercials with the bear. Looking back, I can just imagine how wrong it probably seems to use cartoons to sell alcohol.

    Hamms the beer refreshing...Hamms...

ahh the memories...watching a cartoon bear selling beer...

Now a Natty Light person myself...(in the midwest land of Anheuser-Busch...not much of a "cheap" selection...)

besides, Natty Light (after a few) goes down just like Bud Light...

Sometimes I spend the extra for the regular Budweiser...(has to be bottles...cans taste like eating metal...)
    just a thought

  6. Hamms is definitly light beer for me. I'm used to sierra nevada pale ale which is twice as dark, twice as heavy and has twice the alcohol.... Hmmm, maybe that's why it costs twice as much???? LOL

Where I am now, all you can buy anywhere but the liquor store is beer. Back in Chicago, I could get Dom Perignon (or anything else) at the Jewel-Osco a block away. People here get excited when somoene drives out of town to pick up 6pt beer. Go figure.

  9. This hamms tastes okay, giving me a nice buzz, but it has a funny smell that kinda bothers me...

this reminds me of "back in the day"

going to the drive-through at the local liqour store, and getting 6-packs of Old Milwaukee Tallboys for $1.99 each...

many "fuzzy" memories of those times...

Or having to go to the next state over "after hours" to buy alcohol...
    just a thought

I remember drinking that stuff back in the mid-70's (I'm dating myself here). IIRC, wasn't that the one that used to come in the barrel-shaped cans?

My brother used to buy it for me before I was 18 (back then it was legal to buy alcohol at 18, in FL and some other states) and I drank it all the time, but the coveted beer was Coors, believe it or not.

People used to pay an arm and a leg for Coors, because you couldn't buy it in FL, or anywhere on the east coast that I know of, back in the 70's.

Now it's everywhere and no one cares. Go figure. Scarcity made it taste better.

Actually I was kidding. I've never had it, but from what I hear it's what most consider 'lower-tier' beer. I like Guinness myself, but it's not cheap and no one seems to want to contribute.

  16. That Sierra Nevada looks like proper beer. This, however, is what I drink down the pub:

Jet black, flat, warm. Brilliant stuff.

I miss several things about the midwest living here in the desert. One is Old Style beer. I grew up on that stuff but you can't find it here. Another is Schlitz - a huuuuge beer in the Chicago area, but not so out here.

Here it's pretty much Budweiser that's the biggie ...cow piss, IMHO. Another one is Corona, which must be really overheated by the time it makes it to the store because it smells like the urine of a male cat marking his territory.

Anyone who has owned a male house cat with all the equipment knows that smell Almost like a skunk.

I like a Black and Tan from time to time. Although I did have someone tell me once 'why ruin a perfectly good Guinness?'
