Hi, I keep getting "Read error occured at address 0040209e of module 'TMPGEnc.exe' with 02532758" whenever I encode a captured avi file. I know the avi is not damage as there's no drop frame within. I have move directshow multimedia file reader priority to 2, avi vfw compatability reader to 1. But the error still there.
I have done alot reading on this, and it might be that i need to unistall & install it again, but whenever done these procedure. My TMPGENC auto registered itself?? Therefore could some pls guide on how 2 clean the registry, so i can enter the serial# again pls?
Thanks alot!!

if theres a problem with tmpgenc and u reinstall it there would be no need to clear registry of the serial number surely cause it just saves u the effort of reentering it. The serial doesn't dictate how the program encodes, could u just give a bit more detail like what codec u used to capture etc

I used Vegas Video 4 to the capturing, then encodes to MPG format via TMPGENC, but i keep getting the above stated error and some time "Floating point decimal error...". And it seem no matter what setting i select within TMPGENC, it doesn't solve the problems.
ADDITIONAL INFO: Sometime with a bit of luck, I reboot my PC, and once it is rebooted. I run TMPGENC and select the batch mode and it works prefectly. But i have no idea why it works?
ADDITIONAL INFO: This problem has only occur when I change my computer from P3 to P4 3Ghz with more RAM. I installed all the same softwares as my previous computer (P3). This problem NEVER occur on my P3. -
have you tried opening the file in any other program??
u say it captures direct to mpg yet in your initial post you mention avi file.

Loading the avi file into virtualdub, is it to check if there's error within the avi file?? If so, I will try that. BUT how come when i do a reboot and run tmpgenc to encodes the file, it works but not always?? Any idea?

Hi again, I have tried load the avi file into virtualdub. I got this error
"Couldn't locate decompressor for format 'dvsd' (unknown)"
"Virtualdub requires a video for windows (VFW) compatible codec to decompress video. Directshow codecs, such as those used by windows Media Player, are not suitable"
Any idea what these mean?? -
well it looks like the codec being used for capturing hasn't installed the decompressor for anything to read it properly eother that or its disabled.

amdk62,
I remembered I had that error before at 50% encoding consistently. That was becuase I overclocked my Xp2500+ to 3300+. I lowered my overclock and the problem went away. If you overclock, try lowering it. You can try these.
1. Take 1 memory module and try out the same video clips. If error occurs again, swap the module.
2. As a last resort, do this. You have upgraded your PC and I presume you re-use the hard disk. Normally, it's better to re-format the hard disk and do a clean install for all the drivers. -
Thanks pchan & andybno1 for your replies. I may have solved the problem. It seem tmpgenc was conflicting with INCD (nero) setting, and tonight I change the setting within INCD and captured a new video footage and encode it thru tmpgenc and it works prefectly. I will do capture another footage tomorow and see if tmpgenc will encode it first time. Thanks again for your replies.
PCHAN: I think the overclocking problem has been resolve with new version of tmpgenc, but i might be wrong on this.
