  1. For some reason I can no longer play avi files. I only get audio played but not video. I tried this with Windows Media Player and with Nero ShowTime. Both of these applications used to play video+audio fine before.

Could it be something I installed that messed things up?
How do I restore it back?

I will appreciate any info regarding this.
    Thanks.

  2. try grabbing another xvid codec and installing, use google... or try using system restore if you're using xp to try and fix the problem.

    Both very good suggestions.

  6. All you pretty much need for "playback only" is ffdshow. I use WMP10 with no problems what so ever.

  7. Thank you all for the suggestions. I did search for the missing codec and found this guide to do this (in case anybody is interested): http://www.moviecodec.com/topics/318p3.html

    It worked perfectly well.
    thanks.
