  1. Hi,
I know my topic is a little bit off topic but I have nowhere to go.
I installed an internal DVD drive on an external usb enclouser. Everything seems work perfectly except that the drive can only read CDs but not DVD movies. Please give me some hints on this, it has haunted me for one month.
    thanks in advance.

The only thing i can think of is that somethings wrong with your usb transfer rate or the dvd device is knackered or your system isnt powerful enough to play dvd movies, hard to tell unless you give the specs on your system.

  11. My lap is IBM T40 237358U,
1.3GHz PentinumM, 768 MB, 2 USB 2.0 ports. what else do you need?
I also have a 8x dvd internal drive on my lap. However, it cannot read
dvd-r or +r that I burned with nero express (with or without finalize does not change the situation). I can read the dvdr in other computers (xp machine). Anybody know this too?

ps. I never expected to receive so many responses, thanks for every input.

  12. I made a big mistake. It's actually a 1394 connection. The enclouser has both usb 2 and firewire connections. When a dvd movie inserted into the drive, in 'my computer' , it shows the title of the movie and I can enter into the folder to look for the content, however, I cannot play it. Win Media player told me it's copyright protected, but I checked the region setup , it is region 1 (for gladiator). I also tried the methods of region free in the site, none worked. I then tried some region 6 movies (chinese movies), it can play the movies without any problem, But my dvdrom is purchased in usa, before I took it out from my desktop, it can play region 1 movies. wired problem.
