Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw?
-
I love that show, its been a while since I've seen the show. Dont have much time for TV these days. My avatar used to be crow, but I doubt anybody remembers that

Hello,
Glad to hear it Treebeard. It's off the air completely (no Sci Fi Reruns). But I've got several Rhino tapes and the volume (EDIT [4]) Dvd set.
I've also got a ton from tape trading (and now dvd trading).

P.S. I liked Joel best but Mike had the better singing voice!!!)Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw? -
I've seen it here and there...but can only take so much of it :P
Some of those are on DVD

The funny thing about that show, is those are REAL movies - B-movies that are in the public domain.
I guess they figure that's the only way they can make any money off of 'em now
You can get most of those movies - they're not hard to find...and you're allowed to download those as well. -
Hello,
Rookie64 - It is an acquired taste. Personally I could watch 3 or more in a row, bring it on me-- I can take it!!!
Gitreel - Yep, Tom Servo was a favorite, especially when he'd sing--- a regular Opera singer

The show itself is copyrighted because they made something original out of it...but the movies aren't owned or protected. -
Hello,
Rookie 64 - I've read in a lot of places that they had to negotiate the rights to air the movie they wanted to lampoon. In fact, when Comedy Central started to show reruns towards the end of its run they could only show so many because of expired agreements.
Kevin
P.S. Much of this is in the MST3K episode guide or at www.mst3kinfo.com
--I don't doubt SOME of them are royalty free but not ALL of them are, otherwise they would have released the SEASON BOX SETS by now---Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw? -
I've seen quite a few, a co-work was a huge fan and had a ton so he used to bring them to work so I could watch them on my overnight shifts.
Some of those movies were so bad I couldn't even finish them, even with the jokes. Some of the bad ones that I did finsih would be "The dead talk back" (in which the dead never talk, little less talk back) and "The wild world of cat woman" (yick its like they made the movie as they went along)
Actually the movies they uses were not Public domain, thats part of the problem. When they were on Comedy they had to ask for/pay for rights to use the movies. Later when they were on SciFi they had access to their HUGE stock of movies that SciFi had purchased the right to.
Now in present time they want to release the DVDs but have to fight tooth and nail because even the right they did purchase were purchased for use on a DVD program and not DVD release. So its a long uphill battle to release each set. Thats also why they do not releasee them in order.
I know I've not even seen half of 'em in reality, but I've seen TONS. Great show. -

Sinister Cinema has most of those movies...you can also get them from other distributors.

DEAD TALK BACK, THE
1957 - Aldo Farnese, Scott Douglas, Laura Brock. A previously unreleased horror film! A young blonde is brutally murdered. An eccentric scientist who sidelines as a criminal investigator has created an apparatus that can communicate with the dead! He attempts to contact the dead girl so she can finger her killer. Our scientist/investigator is also heavy into metaphysics. You'll see objects floating around in what has to be the cheapest lab ever created for a horror film (look for a spring water bottle and a reel of film as part of the "scientific" apparatus). Bad film making at its most enjoyable. Ed Wood probably would have worshipped it. We found this film at Headliner Productions, who never released it. From 35mm.

WILD WORLD OF BATWOMAN
1966 - aka SHE WAS A HIPPIE VAMPIRE. Katherine Victor, Lloyd Nelson, Bruno VeSota. A landmark in the history of “bad” films. Your mouth will hang open in awe, really. Batwoman and her busty companions battle the evil “Rat Fink” and his evil, yet idiotic companions. "Proceed Batwoman."

According to Library Of Congress, they are in the Public Domain - there must've been some other legal issues involved
I don't know the details about that though. -

Why'd it get taken off anyway? Is there some legal battle, or did the actors want more money?
-
Well I'm sure SOME of them are public domain, but not all. Like Diabolik (Spelling?) isn't old enough to be. ANything that PD I'm sure has been released since the legal hurtles are likely gone.

I'm still waiting for the Fugitive Alien movies and the Master Ninja "movies" to come out on DVD. Those were the best, IMO.
-
Hello,
I have fugitive alien 1 and 2 on dvd from a trade (dubbed of course). Master Ninjas were ok.
Pod People is my FAVORITE. I have the RHINO video tape.
