  1. Hi,

I have a specific, single DVD disc that we've played in multiple players. All of a sudden, that specific disc will not play in two of three players. These are a Panasonic RV31, an RCA DRC232 and a portable Initial 1731. The movie is a movie for my kids, namely a Blues Clues DVD. The disc still plays just fine in the portable, which seems to not suggest it is scratched, but the two regular players jam up on starting up the disc when inserted. It even locks up the RCA model. Looking at the disc, I see absolutely no irregulairties or scratches.

    Any suggestions? TIA.

IMO - the only thing you can do is to get the disk copied onto reliable media as soon as you can. It's unlikely that both DVD players need cleaning or have picked up a fault. If it's a pressed DVD-ROM then it's weird that it's suddenly 'stopped' working but if it's a 'backup' already (ie a DVD-R or +R) , then it's likely bad media that causing your problem.

I suggest using a decent branded media such as TDK etc - or TY or Ritek based Media.

Just use something like DVDDecrypter in ISO mode if it's a single layer disk or Shrink etc if you need to either reduce it's size or split onto two DVD's etc - See the guides if you're unsure how to do this.

    I hope this helps ....

    Cheers,

Actually, some discs of ours weren't playing on three different players, so we used a lens cleaner on all three. Worked perfectly after that. Not really coincidence. Seems that the circulation of dust is even all through my house
