I have a DVD that is from overseas and I was wondering if there is a way to make a copy of it that is region free so that it will play here in the states. I am using DVD shrink and I clicked on region free but it is still not playing in my player... I appreciate any help that you may be able to offer...
Thanks again
Phil

A home burned DVD is region free.

skdvr, you dont mention which DVD it is, and which country its from, and what region it originally is. I have little information to go on
However, you mention you used dvd shrink so therefore the backup disc is region free.
I think the likely issue here is NTSC/PAL.
You want to play the dvd in the states so i assume the original disc is PAL and your dvd player/tv (in the states) is NTSC only, therefore not capable of playing PAL discs.
Check out some PAL to NTSC conversion guides on this forum. -

In what way does it not play ? Does it not play at all ? Works OK for a while only to crap out near the end... ?
This be a media compatibility issue...
