  1. HI everyone superb website and great forum. Ok my problem is fitting my mpeg files onto a dvd disc after i have converted my mpeg files to dvd comaptible mpeg Using tmpgenc files i use Ulead dvd factory to burn them onto a blank dvd the problem is that putting all 3 files onto the one disc makes them go over the 4.7gb limit so what can i do to correct this ? the total running time of the comined mpeg files is 1st file 3.1gb 52 minutes and 2nd file 2.1 gb 50mnutes so can i condense these files to fit the 4.7gb disc and if so how. Thanks in advance to any help

The runtime doesn't matter. The 120 minutes/dvdr is mainly for desktop dvd recorders.

The max size 4.37GB is what matters. Author both video files with for example tmpgenc dvd author or ulead dvd moviefactory, ignore the max file size warning. THen use dvdshrink to reduce the size to 4.37 GB.

But you should always try to convert to correct size(correct bitrate) when you use tmpgenc for best quality.

  3. I have used TMPGENC and used the low resolution dvd with the bitrate set at 1800 CBR. This way I can get 6 42 minute episodes on a disk without sacrificing too much quality. Give it a try if you feel like reencoding.

1.how do i adjust the bitrate to the right size.
2 Am i right in saying that once i add files to the ulead dvd factory and it says oversize in the status bar i should make a iso image and then shrink that iso image using dvd shrink? then burn the new iso image made with dvd shrink??

    1. use the tmpgenc wizard and you can easiliy adjust the bitrate. or calculate the video bitrate manually, www.videohelp.com/calc

dvdshrink is an excellent way to trim off the extra size.
i used to do that to save many hours of reencode time when my CCE encodes were oversized
