  1. Sorry guys... i'm a complete novice a this stuff.
How do I convert ogm's to Xvid/divX and what tools do I need?
I've had a good look through the forums and can't find anything.

    Hello,

Well there aren't any direct ogm to divx guides in the convert list found on the left column <----. You could convert it to dvd mpeg2 and then back to divx with THIS guide for ogm to dvd (you would then convert the mpeg2 to divx the normal way)

  3. OGM and Xvid/Divx (MPEG4) are two different things. It is like compairing a balloon to air.

OGM is a container, it holds the MPEG4 encoded video and the Vorbis encoded audio.

You can do a direct stream copy in Vdubmod from .OGM to .AVI or .MKV if you want.

Might help if you give a little more info as to what you are actually trying to do.

  4. Thanx for the help guys.... what I am trying to achieve is playing 'anime' videos that generally come in 'ogm' format on my stand alone divX/Xvid player (Philips DVP 642), preferably with sub titles if that is possible.
    Thanx again.

  5. Might I suggest doing a search, both here and on the Xvid Doom9.org forum with the terms "Philips DVP642" and or "Amine encoding"

Most likely the problem is that the original was encoded badly or with parameters that your spicific player can't handle. You may need to reencode with different settings. Searching for your player in particular may uncover info on it.

I use a HTPC, which doesn't have these incompatability problems, so I don't have a lot of info on encoding for a set top.
