This will be my last post at videohelp.com.
(EDIT: I should have known better...)
I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here, but I have decided to move on and pursue other interests. It has not been an easy decision, but recent events have convinced me that my time has come. As always, My Inbox remains open now and in the future.
While there are far too many people to thank for all that has been videohelp.com, I would like single out Baldrick, for creating this place and allowing all of us to enjoy its benefits. Thank you, Baldrick.
I wish all of you the very best.

Like I told you in the PM Indo, I will miss your wit, your intelligence and your "Specials". Fortunately I have your e-mail address and we can stay in touch. Living only 450 miles or so away, I might just turn up on your doorstep with a 6-pack of wine coolers, a portable compressor, and of course, Dolly ...for old time's sake.
Best of everything to you buddy. We'll be talking about you here for a long, long time, I assure you
Adios Amigo!

Offline is one of my most favorite moderators and typically is very patient and willing to keep a close eye on how a thread is developing before bringing down the hammer. He typically gives one a little bit of rope and on occassion will mix it up with us. The locking of that thread with the comments made is totally out of character and just another indication of where OT is going. It is very un-Offline like and can only signal that patience has run out with this forum and that there is no place for some of us in this forum any longer.
I am truly sorry that it has come to this. The OT has developed into what it is because of the people that frequent the OT. Many that frequent the OT are regular and valued contributors to other forums on this site. It seems that as Videohelp.com is evolving into prominence, there no longer remains a place for many us.
Capmaster -- I appreciate the sacrifice you have made. While I do not know for a fact, I suspect that you took the Mod Job as a last measure in saving the existing OT forums. You have willingly taken on a thankless job with a high probablity of failure. You are a great guy and your intentions are good, but I'm afraid the task is greater than the man -- any man. Despite your valiant effort, the OT forum as it was is no more.
Indo's leaving is a big one -- there's no getting around that. It represents a significant change, and in my opinion, a change for the worse. I hate that he and several others are gone and fear that I am not far behind. It's a shame really, as I really came to enjoy my time here and the friends that I have made. It seems that those times are drawing to a close.
Goodbye Indo. Your witty, eloquent prose will be greatly missed. -

Sayonara indolikaa!
thanks for the help on various questions I've posted on here. Pop in everynow and then when you feel the urge to.

See ya later Indo, it's very unfortunate that a certain Moderator has driven you away. All the best in the future! Thanks for all of your help and support.

I like the rest of the moderators here though.
They do an excellent job! -

For the record I have possibly been one of the
strongest supporters of Indy behind the scenes
and have struggled to keep him here over the
past months.
As you, Ripper, have been out
of the loop, I can't blame you for being mistaken.
But I can blame you for suggesting that Indy would
consider any mere mods actions as a reason for
leaving.
He is far stronger than that. He is the
kind of guy that gets up after falling down for
no other reason than it is the right thing to do.
No over inflated ego or sense of self
importance to support him either.
I don't play favorites and Indy has always
respected that. If I have made a mistake
with a thread then it will not be the
first one. Using it as a symbol of "decline
of the OT" is ludricious. At most
it could be a symbol of me not having coffee
that morning.
I have been here longer than my avatar
and I can tell you this is not the
first group of VIP posters that have left.
This has happened before and will happen
again. New people will come and fill the
slots.
As for the decline in OT generally,
it occurred over several months. All
of us with eyes saw it coming months
ago. Look at the kind of posts we were
making? Look at the growth of the
politics site.
End rant. Pack up soapbox.
That's all folks! -

Was I upset that the thread got locked? No. What I was concerned about was the public scolding I got for a thread that was, in all honesty, an opportunity to have some fun. The response I read I felt might be better suited for a PM, but the more I've thought about it, the more I think I probably deserved it. Once I put myself in offline's shoes, I can understand why he wasn't pleased.
I am well aware of the concerns regarding the Off-Topic Forum and the incessant newbie bashing that has taken place here. I have tried to avoid creating problems, or jumping into problem threads, because I was trying to do something that was important to me. And to do that, I had to put the better foot forward. I know this probably hasn't sat well with some members, and I understand that.
offline is not at fault here. He doesn't play favorites, and he's had no reservations about telling me I'm out of line in the past. In the same time that he has supported me, he's also issued a couple of tongue-lashings, too. And I've deserved them.
The recent events I was referring to have nothing to do with offline or videohelp.com. That is not where the problem is. The problem exists between my chair and my keyboard. -
Offline.
I just want to state that I have never accused you of playing favorites and did not intonate any such thing in my post above. I never stated you had it in for Indo and believe you when you state that you are one of his staunchest supporters. I never once stated that you were the sole reason Indo has decided to leave and I did not mean to infer that the actions of any mods alone caused him to leave. I merely stated that the action taken in locking the "Now Serving" thread seems to be reflective of the "new direction" of the OT and may have precipitated his departure.
I am not blaming you and there is no need to get defensive. You are a mod and you are given directives. You have a job to do and it is not always an enjoyable one. I do think that thread was locked pre-maturely and certainly do not understand why it was locked, but you know what -- I don't have to understand it and you don't have to explain to anyone in this forum any of your actions. It does not need to meet with our approval and certainly does not require that it be put to a vote by forum members. You do what you've got to do and interpet/enforce the will of the Baldrick as best you can.
Sure maybe you hadn't had your morning coffee, and at any other time in this forum, that could easily be looked at as Offline having a bad morning, but given the environment in this forum over the past few weeks, I can certainly understand how it can be interpreted as part of the new agenda.
I think very highly of you and I'm sorry if I hit a nerve. Moderating the OT forum seems to have become a very thankless and difficult job.
I know that the OT forum was never intended to be what it has become, but it is what it is. I know it gets rowdy and bawdy in here. But I also know that several ideas and alternatives were put forward (including an offer to fund such a forum) and it appears to have fallen on deaf ears. I also know that its' Baldricks website and he can do whatever he wants to do. I also know that he does not have to pander to a few folks that have made the OT their home and certainly does not have to go out of his way to accomodate them.
Yeah people come and people go. It's the ebb and flow of a forum. There will be others, I'm sure. I understand that; however, it doesn't mean I have to embrace it.
Again -- Offline, I am not blaming you and you are still my most favorite mod !! I used to hang out at Overclockers Australia and have come to truly appreciate Aussies and their humor !! -
