What is the catch to the columbia dvd club? If you buy 2 more at regular price what is the catch is there like a 50$ processing fee or something like that?

There is no catch other than the worst customer service in the world and a rather high rate of errors. Actually there are codes you can get to increase the value of your initial order and most members open and close accounts as soon as possible to maximize the benefits of being a new member. I have had about 15 memberships and it is worth the hassle to get an average price of about $7.50 per DVD. Check out this web site for all the information you will ever want and make sure you get a code before you order.

  5. They REALLY bend you over and drive you home on shipping costs.

I purchased hundreds of LaserDiscs from them, and by the time it was all said and done, I ended up paying sticker price because the savings from the 'Buy 1 at Full Price, Get Another at Half Price' was lost when they put shipping and handling on the ticket.

If you can maximize your first order, you can do well. After that, they don't have many 'sales' that end up saving you money.

  7. They have reduced their shipping charges substantially and it is still possible after shipping costs to get your enrollment DVD at an average of $7.50 even after you have fulfilled your membership requirements.

Don't get me wrong; I am not a Columbia House advocate. They are the most frustrating company I have ever had to deal with. They are the best example of "customer non-service" out there. But when you figure the cost of their DVDs ,it is part of the price you pay for such a good deal. That is what keeps dis-satisfied customers coming back for more.
