  2. I think its a great player for the price.

    Pros:
Will play anything I've tried: vcd, svcd, dvd, cd-r, cdrw (any brand)
It plays Roxio winoncd music cd's (MP2) and photo albums
Its supposed to read dvd+rw (I haven't tried this yet)
Its supposed to read dvd-r (I haven't tried this yet)
    2 scart connectors
You can use the remote to change region

    Cons:
no onboard dolby digital or DTS decoders
Only allows about 25 region changes
    Doesn't play MP3's

I can confirm that it reads DVD+RW (tested with DVD+RW authored by me) and DVD-R (tested with a disk not authored by me and burned with the Pioneer AO3).

two of the cons above are rather small..

no onboard dolby digital or DTS decoders - guess, if you have a amp that can give you the Surround experience it can hadle the decoding it self. no need for it in DVD player

Doesn't play MP3's. Does ppl actually use this? i use my comp, using DVDplayer for mp3 is not very smooth..
Well, I am the slime from your video.

  6. Hey Vulcan, what colour was the burnable side coz I've tried two DVD-R's in my Philips 711DVD player and they didn't work but worked on my PC. The DVD-R's were made by TDK and were purple (burnable side).

    Cheers.

I don't know the colour but since I did a test to see if I should buy the Pioneer burner (I ended up with HP DVD+RW instead) I wrote down the brand and number, Pioneer DVD-R disk, DVS-R470SDF.

The disk played well on my DVD (firmware 7.12. There is a newer firmware but I have not upgraded). My player is bought in Sweden (it's regionfree and plays both European and US disks) but I guess there should be no difference between European and other models as regards compatability for playing DVD-R.
