  1. I have four [.m2v] & [.mp2] files that I wanted to burn to DVD. I used TMPGEnc to encode, but TMPGEnc did not extract the audio properly from the [.avi]'s. I forgot to check this before encoding and just went on with the whole process, burning video with no proper audio (there was no sound). When I realized this, I took the [.vob] files I had and then tried splitting, demuxing, remuxing, etc using various programs. I finally got four working [.m2v]'s & four working [.mp2]'s. For the [.mp2]'s, I just used VirtualDub to extract the [.wav]'s from the original [.avi]'s and encoded to [.mp2] with 2Lame.

DVDAuthorGui accepted (recognized as valid mpeg audio files), of course, all of the [.mp2] files, but it only accpted the first and the fourth [.m2v] files, not the second and third [.m2v] files. It said something like "unrecognizable file." My guess is that somewhere in the demuxing, splitting, merging, remuxing, etc., the [.m2v] files got the wrong streams. Is there a program that I can use to give those two [.m2v]'s valid Mpeg2 headers? I tried muxing with TMPGEnc, but it won't open the [.m2v] files. It says "Invalid Mpeg Stream." The videos play fine in WMPlayer though.

you could try something like dvdpatcher. copy the settings from the first working m2v. but I would instead demultiplex the vob again.

  3. -I tried DVDPatcher; I think it's only good for taking out of spec MPEG2's and patching them to DVD specs so that authoring programs will accept them.

-As far as the original [.vob]'s, I already deleted them and threw away the DVD. This time, I'll just have to reencode. I don't need it for this time, but is there any program that can change the stream id (or maybe add a stream id, I really don't know what else to call it)? For example, the thing that identifies an [.m2v] as SVCD or DVD. When I tried to use TMPGEnc's "Mpeg Tools" to multiplex that [.m2v] with "Mpeg2 (Program VBR)" header - what you use for DVD [.m2v]'s - it wouldn't even open the file.

    -Well, anyways, thanks.
