  1. OK,

Here is the deal. I Have this two disc set of "A & E's Who Wrote The Bible" that I purchased from AandE.com:
"Who Wrote the Bible? DVD set (DVD Library: Ancient Mysteries)
New theological insights and recent scientific discoveries help shed light on the origins of the Holy Scriptures in this definitive 2-volume set. *
This exclusive DVD Library title is created in the DVD+R format.

    2 Volume Set. 150 Minutes.
Availability: In Stock, ships in 2-3 business days $39.95 "
It is a DVD+R disc that they produced using a Philips DVD+R recorder (the menu screen is the generic screen produced by a stand alone Philips dvd recorder)

So this is the problem. Both discs play fine in my mac and in a dvd player. When I copy the contents of the disc to my hard drive there is two folders on the disc: VIDEO_RM and VIDEO_TS. There doesnt seem to be any encription.
If i drag BOTH folders to Toast 6.0.3 and try to burn it gets to the very end then a error comess up that it can not access file "" -- the I get a mac os error andc a failed burn.
This happens exactly the same on BOTH discs !

If I only drag the VIDEO_TS folder over the Toast and burn I get a playable DVD but it skips/stutters every 10 seconds ( I have wasted 4 discs trying to burn slower and with different media without success-- still stutters/skips)

    Any ideas?

I would suggest ripping it with an applicatoin rather than just drag and drop.

Error adjusting the IFO file It doesnt match the VOB file.

    DAMN!!

    other suggestions?

Borrow a pc and check it with GSpot. Frame skipping sounds like partial codec failure. I had a dvd movie with indeo codecs that would not copy to the desktop on a Mac because OS X doesn't have any way to decompress the file. VLC could play it, though. Could the Dat file be Real Media? (RM???). That would be a problem for most Macs, too. If you get the use of a pc, copy the dat file to the desktop, rename it .mpg, burn it to cd and try to play it on the Mac. If the Mac can play it then the pc had codecs to decompress the dat file that the Mac didn't.

  10. the saga continues:

From the original VIDEO_TS folder that I copied from the A&E DVD+R disc I used handbrake to rip to .mp4. When i open the result in QT it looks great -- sound is in sync and pic looks decent. Well, then I drag the .mp4 file over to toast and it accepts the file (under the DVD video tab) The resulting DVD plays in stand alone players but the audio is about 4-6 seconds off!!

    Geeze this is a pain!

  11. If Handbrake can rip it then so can MacTheRipper. Use that to rip the VIDEO_TS to your desktop and burn that video_ts in toast (using the "DVD from VIDEO_TS button.")

The thing is that it was not encrypted to begin with! Using MTR didnt make any difference file was still a pain (

Final Solution: Ripped to .mp4 via Handbrake then converted to .mpg-2 using FFMPEGX. Then drag file to Toast and it "multiplexes" it and burns fine WITH AUDIO IN SYNC!! If I use Toast to convert the audio goes WAY out....

    thanks
