    Hi guys,

Im having heaps of problems trying to burn my dvd's.
Primarily Im using DVD shrink, recommended by a friend who uses that does it with no problems.

Ill go through them all as I have used alot of programs in the last few days.

Primarily I have been trying to copy my DVD's of paycheck and 50 First dates. Paycheck is 7.8GB and 50 First Dates app 5GB.

I have the latest Pioneer DVDR 8x, p4 2400mhz, 1gb ram, and at the moment app 40GB free space.

My DVD player on my PC is a creative labs and I have a Sony DVS3000 home entertainment System. Now this system wont read VCD SVCD or anything thats not set to region free or region 4 DVD's.
I also have a region free Pioneer dvd player i bought when they first came out.

    DVD Shrink (latest version):

Complete backup of paycheck, ALWAYS fails, gets to about 75% and says im out of disc space, which I AM NOT.

REAuthoring of Paycheck just the main movie the burn it directly through DVDshrink with the nero plugin, does everything fine and burns the disc.
Sometimes it will do this, Video and Sound will play but video will be boxy and sound will sometimes play faster than usual. Tested on pc and DVD system, and pioneer unit, did it on all 3.

Another try, Audio worked fine but no picture at all came up on system, pc or pioneer player.

3rd attempt. Audio was fine but no picture, however screen will go black every 3-4 seconds, as if like it was trying to play it.

Using DVD Santa, discs would not work at all on any system.

Using Nero Burning Rom, discs would only work in PC and Pioneer system but showed abnormalities with sound.

Using Ulead DVD movie Factory, now this has worked fine with some other movies I have downloaded and burnt to DVD, plays on all systems, however when I try and make a copy of the main movie from DVD format to DVD format, for some reason it converts it to mpeg before it burns it again and where DVD shrink compressed the movie, this program makes it bigger again than normal for me. Example, DVD shrink reduced the main movie from 50 first dates from 4Gb to 2.5GB, when i slected the DVD movie files in Ulead, it brought it backup to like 6GB.

Does anyone have any idea what Im doing wrong, or can they suggest any programs that can help me better?
Its become so frustrating for me as I have wasted like 15 blank dvd discs.

Thanks for any help in advance.

Copying other peoples DVDs is not an acceptable subject on this forum. Tread lightly.

Try this method, using all freeware software

    Full Disk :

    Rip using DVDDecrypter
    Run through DVDShrink
    Run through AutoShrinkISO
    Burn with DVDDecrypter

    Movie only :

Rip using DVDDecrypter (use main movie+IFO option)
    Run through DVDShrink
    Run through AutoShrinkISO
    Burn with DVDDecrypter

My method, as I'm tight, and put two movies per DVD, unless its over 2 hours then its one movie per DVD

Rip both main movies only with DVDDecrypter
Create menu using TMPGenc DVD Author
Create the now hugely oversized DVD using TMPGenc DVD Author (ignore the warnings about incorrect DVD specs)
Run through DVD2One 1.5, using Medium on the new Selective Mode
    Burn with Nero

I'm happy, and it works, plus I can easily do episode disks how I want using this method as well

For movies with subtitles, don't use TMPGenc DVD Author, it doesn't support subtitles, and will remove any it finds !!

In that case use do the full disk, using whatever you wish :

DVDShrink, Nero Recode 2, DVD2One, etc, etc, etc
