Sonic MyDVD is slow

The default software i got with my DVD burner includes a program called Sonic MyDVD. I've never tried any other software for compiling my own DVD. But when it transcodes the videos, it takes way too long. I was burning a 300meg video and the transcoding took over an hour. Are there any other programs out there that can handle this job better, or does it take this long for any program. thanx.

sometimes programs do take a long time, like, fore example, i just finished authoring a dvd, about 1 hour and 45 min, and it took about an hour and 15 min. sometimes you just need patience

it encodes the video and audio slooooooooooow. try a faster encoder, like mainconcept mpeg encoder. and then author with a tool that does not encode at all like tmpgenc dvd author.

and if your 300 mb video is dvd mpeg compliant already try a new authoring tool that does note convert, like tmpgenc dvd author.
