I never had a problem running AutoShrinkIso, DVD Shrink and Decrypter together, but all of a sudden I'm getting an error with AutoShrinkIso about DVD Shrink. When I click on Start in Iso I'm getting a screen that says:

    Run- time error'1_2147024894 (80070002)
Invalid root in registry key "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\DVD Shrink\DVD Shrink 3.1\Preferences\TargetSizeMB"

When I go to Preferences in Shrink and Target Size it says "DVD-5 (4.7GB) 4464 MB. I recently upgraded to 3.2 so can't remember if I used these programs since then. And why does it mention 3.1 in the error screen when I'm running 3.2? I already uninstalled 3.2 and installed again, but same error screen. Any ideas?

I don't know if Autoshrink works with 3.2 but let's just say it does but maybe it's because of the dual layer setting?

can you not just use DVDShrink 3.2 itself without Autoshrink and create an ISO and burn that with DVDDecrypter automatically?

Well I guess I don't know how to create an Iso file without using AutoShrinkIso. I uninstalled DVD Shrink 3.2 and reinstalled 3.1 but get the same error screen except it says:

Unable to open registry key "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\DVD Shrink\DVD Shrink 3.1\Preferences\TargetSizeMB" for reading.

  4. mccoady,

You only have to do this once.

Start DVDSHRINK under edit preferences Target DVDsize just select Custom click OK... close shrink and you should be ok to use AutoshrinkIso.

This will create that registry entry setting.

PS it doesn't work with 3.2... Shrink 3.2 can create iso and burn so no need to update AutoShrinkIso.

in 3.2 you have to click 'Backup' before you even see the ISO option. It is the 'Select Backup Target' part you want and there is a dropdown menu so you can see all options

once you see it you will see how simple it is

Thanks NY Player and MackemX, I didn't know DVD Shrink 3.2 could make ISO files, how slick! It's so much easier to use to, no more AutoShrinkIso for me. I always learn something from this website.

  7. Hi all.

NYPlayer, I just wanted to take the opportunity to thank you for the great work you did on AutoshrinkIso.
It has been appreciated by a lot of DVD Shrink users, even though they might not have shown their gratitude.

Sorry if offended NYPlayer about saying no more AutoShrinkIso for me, I didn't know he wrote it. It certainly wasn't intentional because without that program I would have been lost, I few months ago I didn't know anything about shrinking and burning. My brother set up what he called the easiest way to backup dvds, AutoShrinkIso to DVD Shrink to Decrypter and I have been doing it that way ever since. I appreciate the work for dummies like me.

Since there's alot I don't know I was wondering if someone could answer this for me. I normally backup my dvds to my hard drive using the above procedures and have until now been letting the ISO files pile up. If I just make a backup and stick it away for safe keeping and delete the ISO file, will I have any difficulty later on making a copy straight from burner to burner (a Pioneer 106 and 107)? Do you lose anything?
