    I am bit confused beteewn the features of lite-on 5001 and 5005. Also on lite-On's web site it says that there are 5002 & 5006 but the specs for all models are the same.

    The real question why should I spend $30-50 more on a 5005 than 5001?

    5005 has a fan while 5001 does not is one difference that I remember while looking at them in Compusa.

    the main dif is that 5005 is a ALL WRITE, is writes on + and - media AND CD-R/RW
    the 5001 writes on + DVD only....

    another one is teh TUNER, one is PAL only, one is ntsc and pal.....
