what brand discs do you use for Nec 2500A and with original

I'm curious to know what other people use different brands for those with the original firmware 1.06. I am still trying to find out brands that are compatabile with my burner. I have tried khypermedia+, sony+, memorex dvd+ and matrix dvd- I ordered some prodvds or whatever those are called. Hope those are good and if not I can use dvd+ on my stand alone recorder. I don't know why Nec external burner is so picky. It can do both dvd- and dvd+ And I don't know anything about updating it with firmware. So I need to know what brands have worked with the original firmware.

I believe Ricoh 4x + works well and they can be under the brand name TDK, Memorex, ridata , but they could also be CMC under some of those brands too. You could try asking the question at cdfreaks.com in the nec dvd hardware forum section.

The ND-2500A does very well with almost all DVD media as shown in all the reviews around the 'net. It will do even better with 2.06 or 2.16 firmware (from the ND-2510), which will allow it to burn Double Layer DVD+R.

Mine loves the PRODISC S03s that are quite reasonably priced. I haven't had a coaster with them, yet.

Khyerpmedia (spelling -- should be Khypermedia)

This could be anything, check with DVDInfoPro to see what the media id is. Most Khypermedia discs (cd and dvd) are POS.

And not knowing how to upgrade your firmware is just plain ignorant (no insult intended). Ignorant is lacking knowlege, whereas stupid is incapable of learning. Don't be lazy, do a little reading, it is EASY to upgrade the firmware.

I got Sony +, they work perfectly for me I got same burner NEC's 1.07 firmware (not hacked)(I dont trust them)
u should find it (1.07) its windows firmware update(very easy)

any way, I use Ricoh and MCC, don't go just by the name of the media.....Maxell+, Sony+, verbatim+, Fuji+.....I used some other crap, but no more shit for me.

I have another DVD-Rom I use for ripping, I see no need for region free, I already can get 8x out of 4x media I'm using (MCC and TY also Ritek+ R03) , also DL is overall useless ( its like driving a 500hp car, not my car, vs my 200hp car on road speed limit of 40mph)

according to recent posts, 8x is not all error free (be careful)

in comparison, that 500hp car will definitely not last as long

(not to be driven daily, not meant to do 8x)

I really have no need for hacked stuff (really I trust NEC over somebody else).

Give me more motivation to use hacked stuff

This is total garbage media. Please avoid like the plague!

i completely agree. i've had sucess with them but after the first 10 i went for the riteks. too many people have had bad luck with them
