If you shop around you will be able to find the Pioneer DV-343 for under $150 US. It is the best consumer-grade DVD player under $200... especially if you plan on playing VCD, SVCD, SeVCD, SxVCD, etc. discs.

  4. My Pioneer DV33 cost me 200 when I bought it almost a year ago. now they are down to around 130 at Best Buy. Great player!! Plays any type of CDR I have ever tried. Plus it reads them faster and better than my Apex. The only thing it would not do is play XVCD's without a 4:3 ratio and my Apex would. So if MP# is not an Issue GO PIONEER!

  5. I'm thinking of getting my parents a DVD player for Christmas, sounds like the Pioneer is a good choice. You say they play the CD-R VCDs and stuff, but is the quality also excellent for store bought DVDs and what not?
Like supporting any future enhancements for DVDs and sound.
Also is the only difference b/t the DV33 and DV440 is the 440 supports MP3 playing?

A Pioneer is an excellent player for ANY video disc. DVD playback is superb! I have the DV-434 and it is by far better than any other DVD player I've tried.

  9. Everyone seems to have there own preference to DVD Players. It's hard to make a decision...
Looking at what Walmart has to offer:
    1) Pioneer DVD/CD Player DV343 ------ $150
    2) GE DVD/CD/MP3 Player GE1401P ----- $130
    3) GE DVD/CD Player GE1101P --------- $130
    4) Sanyo DVD/CD/MP3 Player DWM-370 -- $139

Can I get one last opinion from everyone, includding supported media, quality, and worth the price.
