  1. I have very bad tape - actually picture is very good bu on botth my VCR s(old Sony and new JVC HR-S8960) I have the same problem - playback is jumpy... tracking can solve problem partially and JVC can solve it almost completely using Video Stabilizer (TBC doesn't help). But, even with tracking and video stabilizer, capture is full of "jumping"

I also tried to copy from one to another machine but even corrected signal is obviously too corrupted for another VCR (while on TV it plays rather OK).

Can somebody have some tips to, at least, make another copy with correct playback and later capture from copy or, to capture directly?

I have old Miro capture card with BT chips...

What kind of computer layout do you have? Processor speed, memory, video card, capture card, etc.

It may help to know this.

But it is not PC problem. Other tapes are fine - this one s really crappy recorded - I can play it well using mentioned correction methods and TV does it well while more sensitive devices like other VCR and cature card are messed ...

My philips VR1500 allows me to playback the tape 1/3, 1/2 and at 2/3 speed and at the same time have audio (bad quality). So, on those really rare cases, when the picture is not watchable at all that is, I grabb at 2/3 speed then boost the capture avi file to normal speed. That way I have the best possible picture.
What my VR1500 do is to combine 3 fields in the raw to succeed that lower speed and that is what I need!
Of course this is a practical method. A tip if your VCR can do this!

That's a good idea! I'll try that because my JVC can play slowly with audio.
I just never tried to capture at slow speed - what do youmean by that and how to achieve that?

Capture avi as usual. Then use avifrate to boost your avi and soundforge to adjust the audio to the new video lengh

  9. My JVC can only play 1.5x faster with audio. Slower playback has no audio...
Only thing i can try is to record it slowly and separately record audio and try to connect that (which will be impossible, I guess)

Or, to use camcorder and record picture from TV (that will work if I manage to avoid usual flickering that occurs when record from TV)

I thought there are some post-capture filters that can help with this sort of problem. Unfortunately, I can't remember where I read it, but perhaps some of our members with more experience at this can identify what filters may help.
