  1. I have just purchased a Liteon lvw 5005 dvd recorder, downloaded the latest firmware update.......tried to use imation DVD+R, Sony DVD+RW, TDK DVD-R, hp dvd+r and maxell CD-R with negative results - "no disc or invalid disc"?????? Is there a certain brand/disc/specs, etc. that I should be using in order to be able to record or is something else going on? HELP? Thanks! JD

  3. The only discs I've found NOT to work so far are some old Optodisc's I've got knocking around. It really didn't like those.

The Datawrite 8x with the Fuji dye work well in mine, all Ritek based -R discs from G03 up, Vangaurd 4x... I can't say I've found the 5005 to be that fussy and its tolerance to CD-R's is also very good. Generally speaking I stick with Ritek but what other test samples I have knocking about all seem to work.

Maybe you were unlucky with a batch of discs or the recorder is faulty (my first one ignored every disc, including original pressed discs). Now I've got a good one, it will write to a beer mat if I make a hole in it first.

Outside of the pretty long prep time (which I believe is standard on DVD-RW)
...I have no trouble with Fuji DVD-RW.

    Geez, more like the opposite!
Try finding a disc that DOESN"T work with the Lite On..
My Lite On burns anything I put in it, no prob, right outta the
box. I'm wondering why you had to mess with the firmware???
    From my experience,,,
It's the PANASONICS that have all the compatibility probs.
