As anyone ever tried to return an unopened item to Best Buy over 30 days and been told they do not accept returns after 30 days. I had my receipt, too. They still carry the product. I only asked for store credit, I buy plenty of CDs and DVDs that the store credit would be used rather quickly. I asked for a manager and was given the line "The manager doesn't have authority to override the system". Apparently I just look stupid otherwise they might have gone to get a manager.

In the end it is my loss for being stupid enough to buy it, not use it and not read their return policy.

Thirty days is a pretty good return policy. I personally would not be able to find too much fault with them over it.

Some Wal-Marts and Targets take it back anytime for either a store credit or for the exact same item. I don't know about Best Buy, but I think Circuit City has a similar policy.

    Sell it on eBay.

  5. CC is only 14 days on tech stuff... 30 days is great.

Walmart takes three items back per year with no receipt.

Not on electronics. I fought somebody there for about 2 hours before they gave in. I don't quit until I'm escorted out of the store. What gets me is they have the original receipt in the computer, the numbers match the item and the box, and they know I'm not lying. Yet, no piece of paper, no refund (or so they say). Again, I fought that, and won.

It's abviously different in the US to the UK - here all you need to return an item is proof of purchase, i.e. credit card slip etc, not a receipt. Of course they'll try it on - I've even seen signs in stores saying "we do not give refunds" - utter bullshit.

I was told by a store clerk the other day that "if someone returns a faulty Epson printer we tell them to take it to the service centre in Newport, as its nothing to do with us !!" I suggested he never say that to me

Good on you Smurf for having the balls to demand they do what they're supposed to.
