Converting RM or RMVB to Mpeg.

I have some RMVB file. i want to convert to Mpeg..

the Rmvb file format (512*384) and i actually converted to (NTSC 352*240) with TMPGEnc it work.. so great. But i found out that the quality is so-so.

my question raise.. should i convert mpeg1 720*480? or Mpeg2 352*240?

Does the size improve from 352*240 to 720*480? does it mean the size file is bigger if i have a bigger format size.

Regarding your question, I don't think you'll lose as much resolution at the higher setting, so that could improve the quality.

btw, how can you determine the rm's resolution?

352x480 would be a better resolution to encode to.File size only increases when you use a higher bitrate,nothing to do with resolution size.

i have some movie in dvd-rmvb. the quality is great.

When i convert to Mpeg1 720*480 and it was so blocky when it was in some fighting scene. But in 352*240 it not blocky but just little blurry but still watchable.

Pay attention to bitrates, you won't have that problem.
Since RM is progressive, you made the best choice anyway, 352x240.
