I have some RMVB file. i want to convert to Mpeg..
the Rmvb file format (512*384) and i actually converted to (NTSC 352*240) with TMPGEnc it work.. so great. But i found out that the quality is so-so.
my question raise.. should i convert mpeg1 720*480? or Mpeg2 352*240?
Does the size improve from 352*240 to 720*480? does it mean the size file is bigger if i have a bigger format size.

Regarding your question, I don't think you'll lose as much resolution at the higher setting, so that could improve the quality.
btw, how can you determine the rm's resolution? -
352x480 would be a better resolution to encode to.File size only increases when you use a higher bitrate, nothing to do with resolution size.
I think,therefore i am a hamster. -
EatMoreChickens: it actually lost alot of quality compare the rm to the mpeg..
i have some movie in dvd-rmvb. the quality is great.
When i convert to Mpeg1 720*480 and it was so blocky when it was in some fighting scene. But in 352*240 it not blocky but just little blurry but still watchable. -
Pay attention to bitrates, you won't have that problem.Originally Posted by Aznmask
Since RM is progressive, you made the best choice anyway, 352x240.Want my help? Ask here! (not via PM!)
